Police in Kira Division have arrested three suspects believed to be part of a criminal gang known as “BONA BAFU” during a targeted security operation carried out in Agenda within Kira Municipality.
The operation took place on 26 May 2026 at around 7:00 p.m. and was conducted by officers following intelligence reports about increased criminal activity in the area. The suspects were arrested during the coordinated raid, which aimed to dismantle groups responsible for rising insecurity in the community.
According to police, the gang is suspected of being involved in several criminal acts, including burglary, theft, and phone snatching from members of the public. The group is also accused of violently assaulting victims using paving stones, causing harm and fear among residents. In addition, the suspects are believed to be involved in the consumption and distribution of narcotic substances.

During the operation, officers recovered several exhibits, including suspected marijuana leaves and bundles of rolled substances believed to be opium. These items have been taken in as evidence as investigations continue.
The arrested suspects have been charged with possession of suspected narcotic substances and are currently being held in police custody as they await further legal action and prosecution.
Police have reaffirmed their commitment to fighting crime and maintaining safety and security within the Kampala Metropolitan Area. They emphasized that operations targeting criminal gangs will continue in order to protect residents and restore public confidence.
Authorities have also encouraged members of the public to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police stations, stressing that community cooperation remains key in tackling crime.
