Kampala Metropolitan Police South has recovered a suspected stolen motorcycle and arrested three suspects following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered an alleged motorcycle theft network operating within the Kampala metropolitan area.
According to police, the operation was conducted on July 1, 2026, after officers received information that a motorcycle reportedly stolen from the Freedom City area in Namasuba was being transported for sale. Officers attached to Katwe Police Division responded swiftly and arrested a suspect identified as Mukasa Dan.

During interrogation, Mukasa allegedly admitted to stealing the motorcycle together with another suspect, Kimera Ali, and revealed that the motorcycle had been taken to a parking yard in Kikajjo Parish.
Police subsequently extended the operation to Kikajjo, where they arrested Kabugo Charles while he was allegedly in possession of the motorcycle. Investigators say Kabugo informed them that he had been sent by Kimera Ali to collect the motorcycle. The operation later led officers to Wansanso Garage Hub, where Kimera Ali was arrested.
Authorities recovered a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UEQ 405F, which is believed to have been stolen from Namasuba.
The three suspects have since been charged and are being held at Katwe Police Division as investigations continue.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mukasa Dan is a suspected serial motorcycle thief who has previously been linked to similar theft cases reported in Bombo, Kaweweta, Namayingo, and Namasuba. Police further revealed that he had earlier served a six-year prison sentence at Murchison Bay Prison for related offences.
Investigators also suspect that stolen motorcycles were being sold through Kimera Ali, whom they believe played a key role in the disposal of the stolen property.
Police say investigations remain ongoing, with officers conducting visits to crime scenes and pursuing additional suspects and exhibits connected to the case.
