The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba has swung into action and sacked over 30 top bosses that have been running multbillion Police Exodus Sacco over corruption related scandals, Spyreports has exclusively learnt.
According to inside sources at Police headquarters in Naguru, the sacked officers were shown exit few days ago and got replaced immediately. Some of the sacked officers included Superintendent of Police (SP) Ochola Simon, ASP Waiswa,AIP Allan Rigayampuza among who doubled as Transport officer among others. Reliable sources say their sacking came after intelligence reports reached the office of the IGP claiming officers demanded heavy bribes from their colleagues to process their loans. “You would not access any loan from your hard earned savings on time unless you paid a bribe to Sacco officers,” Says one of the affected police officer. “If you want a loan of Shs 2m to be processed very fast, you would end up paying around 300-450k,”adds another source saying that lower ranked officers found it hard to access loans on time. “These officers became supper rich due to heavy corruption at the Sacco and acquired multimillion wealth,” Reveals another source.
Sources say some corrupt Sacco members are pursuing a Master’s degree in Tanzania on Sacco’s funds. Reliable sources say when complaints reached the office of IGP he ordered all Sacco positions should be applied for. “IGP also ordered the CID to make a comprehensive investigations into the corruption scandals and the culprits be punished according to the law,” Says another source. The source says, there is massive jubilations for the sacking of corrupt officials. “We are so happy that the old team was sacked and the new team is in place. We expect good services and a corrupt free agent Exodus Sacco,” Says another source. Efforts to get a comment from Sacco management were futile as new PRO Ongomo could not pick our calls by press time.
