SSP Achiria Godfrey PSC(U) has officially taken over as the new Regional Police Commander (RPC) of Wamala Region, replacing SSP Martin Okoyo who has been transferred to Greater Bushenyi to serve as the new RPC.
During the handover and takeover ceremony held in Wamala, SSP Achiria expressed gratitude to the appointing authority for considering him among many other officers for the leadership position. He said the new responsibility is a great opportunity to serve the people and strengthen security within the region.
The new Wamala RPC also appreciated CP James Ruhweza for his guidance and mentorship during the time he served as Deputy Regional Police Commander (D/RPC) Kampala Metropolitan South. He thanked CP Ruhweza for sparing time to attend and preside over the official handover and takeover ceremony.
SSP Achiria further recognised the efforts of his predecessor, SSP Martin Okoyo, and the entire team that served under him, commending them for their dedication and commitment towards protecting the people of Wamala Region during his tenure.
As he begins his leadership journey in Wamala, SSP Achiria pledged to dedicate his full energy towards fighting crime and improving security through working closely with sister security agencies and other stakeholders.
He said his leadership will be guided by the principles of the four Cs — Communication, Coordination, Cooperation and Consultation — which he described as key in building strong partnerships and delivering effective security services to the public.
Addressing the police officers and other security teams in Wamala, SSP Achiria called for commitment, discipline and hard work. He reminded them of the words of President Yoweri Museveni that “this is kisanjja of no more sleep,” urging officers to remain active and focused on serving Ugandans.
The new RPC assured residents of Wamala Region that his team will work tirelessly to prevent crime, respond to security challenges and ensure that people live in a safe and peaceful environment.
SSP Achiria concluded by calling for unity among all security players as they work together to protect communities and uphold the rule of law, pledging to serve with dedication “for God and my country.”
