Police have arrested 94 suspects in a series of intelligence-led operations conducted across several crime-prone areas in the Kampala Metropolitan Area in a major night crackdown aimed at disrupting criminal activities and dismantling criminal gangs.

The operations were conducted between midnight and 5:00am on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, targeting areas identified by Police as hotspots for criminal activities.
In Mukono, Police carried out operations in Kamwanyi, Ham Mukasa, Kasokosi, Lwanda, Namanve and surrounding areas, leading to the arrest of 22 suspects.
In Nagalama, another 21 suspects were arrested during operations conducted in Kalagi, Katonga Ghetto, Kakoola and neighbouring areas.
Police in the Kira Road Division also conducted operations in Kisaasi, Dungu Zone, Kikulu Zone and surrounding areas, resulting in the arrest of 13 suspects.
Kabalagala recorded the highest number of arrests, with 38 suspects taken into custody during targeted operations in the area.
During the operations, Police recovered several exhibits, including suspected narcotic substances and other items believed to be connected to criminal activities.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, the operations are part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal gangs involved in waylaying and robbing members of the public, phone snatching and other related offences.
Police said they will continue conducting intelligence-led and targeted operations in identified crime-prone areas across the metropolitan area to make communities safer and protect the public and their property.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons and activities to Police.
