The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has invited members of the public to submit their views on an application seeking the transfer of licences from Capital FM (2015) Limited to Next Media Services Limited and Kin Kariisa.The proposed transaction would see Next Media Services Limited and Kin Kariisa acquire 100 percent ownership and control of Capital FM (2015) Limited, subject to the consideration and approval of UCC.
According to UCC, the public consultation is intended to give interested parties an opportunity to raise any concerns, provide information or make comments regarding the proposed transfer of the licences before the regulator makes its decision.The application involves a major change in the ownership and control of one of Uganda’s well-known radio stations. Capital FM has operated in Uganda’s broadcasting sector for years, making the proposed transaction an important development for the country’s media industry.UCC has therefore called on members of the public, industry stakeholders and other interested parties to carefully consider the proposed transaction and submit any relevant comments to the Commission.
The public has been given 14 days from September 14, 2026, to submit their comments. This means that anyone wishing to respond to the application should ensure that their submission is made within the stated period.
Comments should be addressed to the Uganda Communications Commission through the email address [email protected]’s public consultation comes as the Commission continues to exercise its regulatory role over Uganda’s communications sector, including licensing, ownership and control of broadcasting and other communications services. The final decision on the proposed transfer will depend on the Commission’s consideration of the application and the views received during the consultation period.
