The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, including the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and local leaders have conducted a series of intelligence-led operations on April 10, 2025 that led to arrest of over 130 suspected criminals
The Operations were carried out in area of Nakivubo Channels specifically Container Village, Owino Kisenyi, and Musajjalumbwa areas
They targeted thugs involved in robberies along Nakivubo channel, Gwanda Tax Park, New Tax Park, and surrounding areas where 62 suspects arrested and detained at Old Kampala pending court proceedin
Other Locations were Magogo, Kyegobo, Zimudi, and Bukerekere villages Targeting criminal elements in the area and 28 suspects arrested and detained at Kakiri Police Station pending screening and prosecution.
In Mukono District operations were conducted in Mbalala, Nakapyini, and Nasuti areas in Nama Sub-County and Mukono Central Division
Targeting areas known for harboring criminals involved in opium smoking and robber ,as a result 14 suspects arrested and detained at Mukono Police Station pending prosecution.
In Kawempe, Maganjo-Janjawaza, Kawanda-Kirinyabigo, and Tula-Mugalu zones, 26 suspects arrested from different areas and detained in Kawempe Police station.
SSP Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan spokesperson said,0The operations were conducted to enhance security, reduce crime, and apprehend suspected criminals in the Kampala Metropolitan Area. The collaborative efforts between the police, UPDF, and local leaders were instrumental in the success of these operations.
