Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi has officially petitioned the Inspector General of Government (IGG), calling for an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the alleged illegal disbursement of UGX 100 million to certain Members of Parliament.
In his letter, Ssenyonyi urged the IGG to urgently look into what he described as a suspicious and potentially unlawful transaction, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in the handling of public funds. The move follows widespread public concern and speculation surrounding unexplained payments made to several MPs.
Ssenyonyi stated that such actions, if proven, undermine public trust in democratic institutions and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
The IGG’s office has yet to respond publicly to the petition. More details to follow.
