Must read

The Electoral Commission has officially published a Gazette notice regarding the application to register the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) as a political party. This announcement, dated May 16, 2025, marks a significant step in the party’s path to formal recognition.

As part of the registration process, the Commission is inviting members of the public to submit any objections they may have concerning the application. Individuals with valid reasons for opposition have a 14-day window from the date of the notice to lodge their complaints. The application can be reviewed at the Electoral Commission Headquarters located at Plot 1-3/5, Seventh Street, Industrial Area, Kampala.

According to Mr. Julius Mucunguzi, spokesperson for the Commission, the publication complies with the Political Parties and Organizations Act of 2005. “The Commission has published the application from the promoters of the People’s Front for Freedom who seek registration under that name, or PFF,” he noted.

The Gazette notice serves to inform the public and ensure transparency in the formation of political parties. Mr. Mucunguzi emphasized that the public may raise objections on various grounds, including issues related to the party’s constitution, symbols, or other stated particulars.

If no objections are submitted within the 14-day timeframe, the Commission will proceed to issue a certificate of registration to the party’s promoters. Should any complaints arise, the law provides a clear framework for assessing and resolving them.
