Must read

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has officially announced its 2025 National Recruitment Exercise, aiming to bring on board 11,500 qualified Ugandan citizens into both the regular forces and professional units. This nationwide drive will run from Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11, 2025.

The recruitment will take place in two main phases: an online application phase followed by physical recruitment interviews. All interested applicants must first submit their details online through the official portal at recruitment.updf.go.ug. During this stage, candidates are required to upload their passport photo, academic documents, and national ID.

Once online applications are reviewed, shortlisted candidates will be published on the UPDF website and at district headquarters notice boards. These individuals will then attend physical and medical interviews at specific recruitment centres across Uganda’s 135 districts and 11 cities.

Applicants must present a handwritten application with official recommendations from LC I, II, III chairpersons, as well as from the GISO or DISO, and include original academic documents, a national ID, and three passport-sized photos.

The recruitment categories include:

General Recruitment for Regular Forces: Must have UCE, aged 18 to 22 years.

Grade Five Teachers: Diploma holders from recognized teacher colleges, aged 20 to 25 years.

Air Force Professionals and Other Specialists: Including pilots, engineers, IT experts, meteorologists, and air traffic controllers, aged 18 to 30 years depending on the role.

There’s also an opportunity for Senior Six leavers with science combinations, especially those strong in Physics and Mathematics, and who earned two principal passes with 12 points or more.

The UPDF emphasized that recruitment is free of charge, and any attempt to charge applicants should be reported immediately. Female professionals are especially encouraged to apply.

To qualify, applicants must be Ugandan citizens, physically fit, have no criminal record, and be law-abiding residents of the district where they are applying. Proper documentation, including recommendations from local leaders and the RDC, is mandatory.

This recruitment is not just about filling positions—it’s a chance to serve the country with discipline, patriotism, and dedication. The UPDF welcomes all suitable candidates to take part in this honorable journey.

Alluta Continua, the struggle continues.
