“Stay United Even With Diverse Views” Message From Electoral Commission To The Youth As They Elect Their Committees At Parish Level Today

Must read

Today, the youth of Uganda are taking an important step in shaping their future as they gather in over 10,595 parishes across the country to elect their parish-level youth committees. This election is a key part of strengthening youth leadership and representation at the grassroots level.

According to the Electoral Commission, only those who were elected to serve on the village youth committees are eligible to participate in today’s elections. These village committee members will form the electoral college at the parish level and vote among themselves to choose nine members to represent them on the parish youth committee.

It is important to note that youth who are not part of the village committees are not allowed to participate in today’s elections. This process is well-structured, and the candidates for the various positions were already nominated earlier. As part of Uganda’s unique voting system for youth committees, this election will be done by lining up behind the chosen candidate, their photo, their poster, symbol, or agent. This simple method allows for a quick and clear count of support for each candidate.

The Electoral Commission, through its spokesperson Mr. Julius Muchunguzi, has shared a strong message with all participants. He reminded all voters and candidates to maintain peace, respect, and discipline during and after the elections. He emphasized that elections are not a war, and having different political choices should not make anyone an enemy. Youth are urged to stay united, even with diverse views, and to avoid any kind of violence or confrontation. The Commission encourages all participants to show maturity and patriotism by treating others with dignity.

Voting will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Electoral Commission officials will provide voter education before the process begins. They will explain the rules, guidelines, and procedures to make sure everything is clear and fair. This step is aimed at ensuring every voter understands their role and the importance of this democratic process.

In conclusion, this is a proud day for the youth of Uganda. It is a chance to show leadership, unity, and a commitment to peace. The Electoral Commission sends its best wishes to all involved and calls on the youth to make this day a success—not just for themselves, but for the future of their communities and the nation.

For God and My Country.
