Bravery on Two Wheels!! How Boda-Boda Riders and Police Foiled a Violent Robbery Spree

Must read

In the early hours of Sunday, July 27th, 2025, fear swept across parts of Mukono and Wakiso districts as a group of armed robbers launched a wave of violent attacks. At around 3:00 AM, the gang, carrying sharp pangas, began their brutal mission in Nabweru, located in Goma Division, Mukono District. They moved from one village to another, robbing several unsuspecting residents under the cover of darkness.

After the initial attack in Nabweru, the criminals made their way through Kyaliwajjala and Sonde, areas in neighboring Wakiso District. As they advanced, they continued terrorizing communities and robbing people of their possessions. According to one of the suspects later arrested, the group’s route eventually led them to Seeta Town in Mukono, where they carried out yet another robbery.

The robbers didn’t stop there. On their way back to Nabweru, they struck again — this time at Namanve Industrial Park, a busy area along the Kampala-Jinja highway. However, their trail of violence didn’t go unnoticed. A group of courageous boda-boda riders witnessed the crime and began pursuing the suspects. These brave riders quickly alerted officers from the nearby Namanve Coca-Cola police post, who immediately joined the chase.

The group was eventually found hiding behind KAWACOM Company within the industrial park. During the confrontation, one of the robbers, later identified as Nsubuga, attempted to attack a police officer with a panga. In defense, the officer shot him, injuring him in the waist and leg. Nsubuga was later rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Two other suspects were captured during the operation. They were identified as 26-year-old Asimwe Stephen and 22-year-old Musinga Musa. Upon searching the suspects, police recovered three pangas and a motorcycle with registration number UGG 597Y from Asimwe. They also found three smartphones believed to have been stolen from the victims.

The timely response of the boda-boda riders and police helped put an end to a dangerous robbery spree. Investigations are still ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face charges in connection with the attacks. For now, the communities affected can breathe a little easier, knowing that justice is on its way.
