Good Work!! Entebbe Airport Hits Record Passenger Numbers in July 2025

Must read

Entebbe International Airport has reached a new milestone, recording its highest-ever monthly passenger traffic in July 2025. According to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, the airport handled 230,577 passengers in just one month, a figure that has never been seen before in its history. Out of this number, 119,127 were arrivals, while 111,450 were departures, averaging an impressive 7,437 travelers per day. Notably, arrivals exceeded departures, showing Uganda’s growing attractiveness as a destination.

The record-breaking numbers have surpassed the airport’s previous best, which was set in December 2024 with 222,301 passengers. At that time, the airport averaged 7,171 passengers per day, making July 2025 a clear sign of growth and recovery for Uganda’s aviation and tourism sectors.

Several factors contributed to this surge. One of the biggest drivers was the arrival of international delegations and football fans who came to Uganda for the CHAN 2024 tournament. In addition, increased tourism promotion campaigns have been drawing more visitors eager to explore Uganda’s wildlife, culture, and natural beauty. The country also hosted a number of international conferences, which brought in participants from around the world. Furthermore, enhanced airline connectivity has made Uganda more accessible than ever before, linking Entebbe to more destinations and boosting passenger movement.

The growth was not limited to passengers alone. In the area of cargo, Entebbe International Airport also recorded significant activity. A total of 5,863 metric tonnes of cargo was handled in July 2025. Out of this, 3,961 tonnes were exports, reflecting Uganda’s strong agricultural and trade output, while 1,902 tonnes were imports, supporting the local economy and businesses.

This achievement is a major boost for Uganda’s aviation industry and economy. Increased passenger traffic means more business for airlines, hotels, tour operators, and local businesses that depend on travelers. It also shows the growing confidence of both international and regional travelers in Uganda as a safe and attractive destination.

With such progress, the future of Entebbe International Airport looks even brighter. If the trend continues, Uganda could position itself as one of the leading aviation hubs in East Africa, boosting not only tourism but also trade and investment opportunities.
