On the morning of August 28, 2025, residents of Kakajjo Zone in Kisenyi II Parish, Kampala Central Division, woke up to a shocking incident that nearly turned tragic. At around 7:00 AM, a man identified as Denis reportedly found his wife, Fiona, in the company of another man inside their home. The discovery sparked uncontrollable anger, and what followed left the entire neighborhood shaken.
According to eyewitnesses, Denis quickly locked the two lovers inside the house before dousing the surroundings with petrol. Without thinking twice, he set the house on fire, seemingly determined to punish his wife and her companion. Screams soon erupted as flames consumed the structure, spreading at a frightening speed.
Luckily, Fiona and the man she was with managed to force their way out of the burning house and escaped before the blaze could consume them. Their survival, however, did not stop the destruction. The fire spread to nearby homes, forcing residents to flee as property worth millions of shillings went up in smoke. Many families were left counting losses, but by sheer luck, no deaths or injuries were reported.
The territorial police in Kampala were immediately alerted. Fire rescue services rushed to the scene and worked tirelessly to put out the flames before they spread further. Their swift response saved several properties from being destroyed. Even though the situation was eventually brought under control, fear and anger lingered in the neighborhood, with residents calling for justice.
Police confirmed that Denis fled after starting the fire, leaving behind confusion and damage. Authorities also noted that both Fiona and her alleged lover disappeared after escaping the blaze. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to locate all three individuals so they can give their side of the story and face the law.
SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, assured the public that the matter is being handled with urgency. He condemned the act of taking the law into one’s own hands, warning that violence only creates more suffering and damage. He further encouraged communities to seek peaceful solutions to family and relationship disputes.
The incident has left many residents reflecting on the dangers of uncontrolled anger and the destructive impact of domestic conflicts. While Fiona and her lover escaped with their lives, the flames consumed homes, property, and peace of mind in the community. For now, residents of Kakajjo Zone are left to pick up the pieces as police continue their search for Denis and the others involved.
