Must read

This morning, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) staff, led by the Executive Director and the Chief Statistician of Uganda, joined Rotaractors and members of the public for the annual Rotary #CancerRunUg25. The event, flagged off at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, brought together thousands of participants who ran to raise awareness and support the fight against cancer.

As part of UBOS’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the Executive Director purchased 1,000 kits for staff and supporters. This move aimed to strengthen community relations, support charitable causes, and make a positive impact on the lives of Ugandans. UBOS’ involvement highlighted the organization’s commitment to social responsibility and its dedication to giving back to the community.

This year’s run was a huge success, attracting over 60,000 runners who participated in 5km, 10km, and 21km races. Each participant contributed to a noble cause, with proceeds going toward completing the one-stop cancer centre at Nsambya Hospital. Organizers emphasized that every step taken in the race brings Uganda closer to saving lives, providing hope for patients, and promoting cancer awareness nationwide.

The Rotary #CancerRunUg25 continues to grow in popularity and impact, uniting different sectors of society in the fight against cancer. By participating in events like this, organizations like UBOS not only promote wellness and community engagement but also inspire others to take action and support life-saving initiatives.
