A 15-year-old student, Nankinga Meble of Kyemamba Seed Secondary School in Lyantonde District, has been found dead under suspicious circumstances, police have confirmed. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Masaka West Region as authorities launch a manhunt for the main suspect, identified only as Isaac.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer for Greater Masaka, Kasirye Twaaha, the tragic events unfolded on the night of September 1, 2025. Nankinga reportedly left her parents’ home without informing them and went to Kyemamba Trading Center to meet her boyfriend, Isaac. She spent the night at his rented premises.
The following morning, September 2, around 7:30 a.m., Nankinga’s parents realized she had not returned home. They began searching for her in the Kyemamba Trading Center, and by 10:00 a.m., they received information that she had spent the night at Isaac’s place. Upon arriving at his rented room, they were horrified to find their daughter lying dead on the bed. They immediately reported the incident to the police.
Police arrived at the scene, conducted an examination, and subsequently took the body to Lyantonde Hospital for a postmortem examination. Efforts to trace Isaac, who is currently at large, are ongoing as authorities seek answers regarding the circumstances that led to Nankinga’s death.
This incident has left the local community in shock, raising concerns about the safety of young students and the need for parental vigilance. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation.
