Two people have been killed and nine others injured in a fatal road crash at Nkoowe along the Kampala–Hoima Road in Wakiso District.
The crash occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at about 1:33pm and involved four vehicles: a Sino Truck registration number UBK 495F, a Toyota Hiace commuter taxi registration number UAT 272J, a Subaru Forester registration number UBB 353D and a Toyota Wish registration number UBE 918T.
According to preliminary police findings, the Sino Truck was carrying stones and travelling from Kakiri towards Kampala when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle at Nkoowe.
The truck then rammed into the other three vehicles, including a commuter taxi that had reportedly stopped to pick up passengers.
The impact caused a deadly scene, with the driver and conductor of the commuter taxi dying at the scene. Police said their bodies were recovered as investigations into the crash continued.
Nine passengers who were travelling in the commuter taxi were also injured in the accident. The injured included five adults and four juveniles.
The injured passengers were rushed to a nearby health facility where they were admitted for medical attention.
Police have since started investigations to establish the exact circumstances that led to the truck losing control and crashing into the other vehicles.
SP Kananura Michael, the PRO Traffic Police, confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.

Police continue to urge motorists, particularly drivers of heavy vehicles, to exercise maximum caution on the roads and ensure their vehicles are properly controlled at all times to prevent crashes and loss of lives.
