Security Agencies have arrested a 20-year-old man, Musana Ivan, after a video of him spread widely on social media. In the video, Musana is seen wearing a military jacket and making statements that were considered inciting and dangerous. The video raised serious public concern and quickly caught the attention of security authorities.
According to preliminary investigations, Musana Ivan is not a member of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). Police established that he falsely presented himself as a UPDF officer while recording the video. The clip was later uploaded to TikTok, where it gained attention and alarmed many viewers.
Following careful tracking, security officers located and arrested Musana in Bukedea District. He was later transferred to Kawempe Police Station, where he is currently being held. Investigations are still ongoing to establish the full motive behind his actions and whether there were others involved.
Police have confirmed that the case file will be sent to the Office of the Resident State Attorney. This office will review the matter and provide legal advice on the next steps, including possible charges related to impersonation, incitement, and misuse of military identity.
As Uganda moves closer to the General Elections scheduled for 15th January 2026, the Police have issued a strong reminder to the public. Citizens are urged to use social media responsibly and avoid posting content that may promote hate, spread fear, or falsely represent security personnel.
Authorities emphasized that misuse of social media, especially during sensitive political periods, can threaten peace and stability. Such actions are punishable under the law and may lead to arrest and prosecution. The Police continue to call on the public to remain calm, lawful, and responsible both online and offline.
