Shaping Strategic Minds! Police Commanders Visit CID Headquarters

Must read

Yesterday evening, mid-level police commanders currently undergoing a four-month Intermediate Command and Staff Course at the Uganda Police Senior Command and Staff College paid a courtesy call to CID Headquarters. The visit was part of their ongoing training, aimed at exposing them to key operational and strategic institutions within the Uganda Police Force.

The officers were taken through a guided tour of the facility, where they were introduced to the core functions of the Criminal Investigations Directorate. They observed how modern investigations are handled, from intelligence gathering to case management. This experience helped the commanders better understand how CID plays a critical role in maintaining law and order and supporting the wider justice system.

After the tour, the Director of CID delivered a powerful lecture of opportunity to the officers. In simple and clear terms, he spoke about ideology, reminding the commanders of the values and principles that guide the police force. He also reflected on the historical mission of the CID, explaining how the department has evolved over time to respond to new and complex forms of crime.

The Director further emphasized the responsibility of the officers as future leaders. He urged them to think beyond routine policing and focus on strategic security. According to him, effective policing is not only about fighting crime but also about creating a safe environment that supports national prosperity and socio-economic transformation.

The visit left the officers motivated and more aware of their role in nation-building. It strengthened their appreciation of teamwork between different police departments and reinforced the importance of leadership, discipline, and clear vision. As they continue with their course, the lessons from CID Headquarters are expected to shape them into more informed, strategic, and service-oriented commanders.
