Uganda Police, together with other sister security agencies, have carried out a series of coordinated operations across Kampala and surrounding areas to fight rising criminal activities. The operations, which targeted known black spots, aimed to protect residents from robbery, drug abuse, and other crimes.

In Bukerere and Namataba Town Council, joint night patrols conducted between 18th and 19th February 2026 led to the arrest of 19 suspects. Police said these individuals were involved in smoking narcotics, robbing pedestrians, and other criminal acts. Various exhibits, including drugs, were recovered, and the suspects are now being held at Goma and Namataba Police Stations, awaiting prosecution.

Meanwhile, in Kisaasi and Kyanja, under the Kira Road Police Division, 7 suspects were arrested during operations on the same dates. Items recovered from them included pangas, a hammer, suspected stolen phones, bags, IDs, and rolls of opium. The suspects are currently in custody pending court action.

Kabalagala residents can breathe easier after police targeted muggings and thefts of vehicle side mirrors near Arena Mall, Mukwano Road, and surrounding areas. Seven suspects were arrested and have already been charged. They remain in detention as investigations continue.

In Nakulabye, under Old Kampala Police Station, a large-scale joint operation carried out between 12:01 am and 3:00 am on 18th February 2026 led to the arrest of 110 people, including 40 women and 70 men. The action came after public complaints about increased robberies, phone snatching, and drug abuse in the area. Police recovered drugs, knives, and other exhibits, and the suspects are pending court proceedings.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, emphasized that the police remain committed to sustaining such operations to eliminate criminal elements and ensure public safety. The situation in all affected areas is now calm, and residents are urged to continue reporting suspicious activities to maintain a safe community.
