Must read

The murder case of Pamela Tumwebaze has taken a new turn after the main suspect was brought to court under very tight security. On Friday afternoon, Hussein Dak Taewaiko appeared before the Mukono Chief Magistrate’s Court guarded by heavily armed officers. Security personnel from the Police, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and the Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce surrounded the court premises, showing how serious and sensitive the case has become.

Pamela Tumwebaze was the Dean of Students at Uganda Christian University (UCU). She was widely respected as an academic leader and a caring mother of two. Her death at her home in Mukono shocked the university community and the entire country. Many people have been following the story closely, demanding answers and justice.

The suspect, Hussein Dak Taewaiko, was arrested on February 14 in Budaka District. According to investigators, he had been hiding at his mother’s home. Police say he was found with items believed to belong to the late Tumwebaze, including a smartphone. Reports also indicate that he has confessed to the crime, though investigations are still ongoing to understand the motive and to find out if other people were involved.

Eyewitnesses at the court described a tense atmosphere. Armed officers were placed at all entry points, and the security perimeter was strictly controlled. The heavy presence of security forces highlighted the strong public interest in the case. Many citizens gathered around the court area, hoping to witness the beginning of the legal process.

Last week, Tumwebaze was laid to rest in Mbarara District. During her burial, family members called for justice and a full explanation of what led to her tragic death. They expressed deep pain but also hope that the truth will come out in court.

As proceedings begin, the nation now turns its attention to the courtroom. Many people are waiting to see how the case will unfold and whether justice will be served. For the students and staff of Uganda Christian University, the loss remains fresh and painful. The court process marks the first official step toward accountability in a case that has deeply touched the hearts of many Ugandans.
