The government has stepped up its fight against fraudsters who are taking advantage of citizens by pretending to help them access funds under the Parish Development Model (PDM). This action follows a strong directive from the President to expose and punish individuals who are cheating wananchi. The aim is clear: protect the public and make sure that government programs benefit the right people without corruption or exploitation.
In Kiryandongo District, one such case has come to light. Authorities arrested Nangoti Peter, the Chairperson of Panyadoli PDM SACCO, after he allegedly collected money from vulnerable individuals under false claims. Reports indicate that he obtained UGX 2,878,400 from 15 people by misleading them into believing that they had to pay in order to receive PDM funds. This is not true, as the government has clearly stated that no payment is required to benefit from the program.
Nangoti Peter was arrested on March 6, 2026, and later presented before the court on March 13, 2026. After the court hearing, he was remanded to prison as investigations continue and legal proceedings move forward. His arrest sends a strong warning to others who may be planning to exploit citizens through similar schemes.
The government has once again reminded wananchi to be careful and stay informed. Any request for payment in exchange for access to PDM funds should be treated as a scam. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious individuals to the authorities so that action can be taken quickly.
This case shows that the government is serious about protecting its people and ensuring fairness in the distribution of resources. By taking firm action against fraudsters, it is working to build trust and make sure that development programs like PDM truly improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
