Police Woman Arrested Over Torturing Her Seven Year Old Step Daughter

Must read

A 7-year-old girl, Murungi Faith Itungi, has become the center of a disturbing child abuse case in Katadde Cell, Gombe Division. Allegations suggest that her step-mother, D/C Awelo Gloria, 36, subjected her to repeated beatings and harsh treatment over several months, prompting urgent police action.

The complainant, Tuhirwe Simon, a 40-year-old police officer attached to Nagalama Police Station and father to the victim, reported that the abuse began in January 2026. During a family visit to his village in Rushanje, Rwampala District, the suspect reportedly took Faith back with her to Katadde. Soon after, the child began complaining of constant beatings. Despite repeated warnings from her father, Awelo Gloria allegedly continued torturing the young girl.

The situation escalated on March 22, 2026, when the step-mother reportedly beat the child so severely that Tuhirwe Simon immediately reported the matter to the police. Investigations were launched by Matugga Police Division under CRB 256/2026. The victim was examined and a PF3A form issued to document her injuries. The suspect was arrested, interviewed, and her statement recorded, while additional statements were taken from relevant witnesses.

Authorities have confirmed that inquiries into the matter are ongoing, highlighting the urgent need for vigilance against child abuse. The case has drawn concern from the community in Katadde, as parents and guardians are urged to protect children from harm, even within their own homes.
