Must read

In a continued effort to curb vehicle number plate theft, Police at Katwe have arrested a suspect connected to a series of incidents in and around Kampala. The suspect, identified as Katushabe Saul, a 26-year-old resident of Lweza in Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District, is believed to have been operating in areas including Lweza, Najjanankumbi, Zana, Katale, and Nfufu. Authorities say he has a history of similar offenses and is considered a habitual offender.

The arrest came after police received reports on 28th March 2026 of a suspected car vandal seen peeping into residential gates in Najjanankumbi. Private security guards who noticed his suspicious behavior quickly alerted the authorities, prompting a swift response. Upon apprehension, the suspect led police officers to the recovery of eight stolen number plates.

Police say the arrest is part of an ongoing crackdown on vehicle-related crimes, highlighting the importance of vigilance by residents and private security teams. Katushabe is currently in police custody as investigations continue, with authorities working to determine if he is linked to other thefts in the city. Police have assured the public that efforts to stop vehicle number plate theft will continue, emphasizing that habitual offenders will face the full force of the law.
