Driver Dies Instantly After Vehicle Loses Control and Plunges Into Pamujjugu Swamp

Police have confirmed a fatal road accident along the Mityana-Mubende Road in which a 26-year-old driver died instantly after the vehicle he was driving lost control and plunged into Pamujjugu Swamp.

The accident happened on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at about 10:00am. The vehicle, registration number UBJ 494H, a white Mitsubishi Canter, was travelling from Mityana towards Mubende when the driver reportedly lost control.

The vehicle veered off the road and entered the swamp before overturning. The driver, identified as Kaganda Felix, a resident of Kazinga, Kasangati in Wakiso District, died at the scene.

Two other occupants were rescued from the wreckage and rushed to Mityana General Hospital for medical attention. They were identified as Ssekandi Reagan, 27, and Kanyike Enock, 22, both residents of Kazinga, Kasangati in Wakiso District.

Police from the Mityana Traffic Department visited and documented the accident scene as investigations continued. The body of the deceased was conveyed to Mityana General Hospital mortuary, while the wreckage was towed to the Mityana Traffic Police parking yard.

Police suspect reckless driving to have contributed to the accident, although inquiries are still ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police have urged motorists to exercise greater caution while driving, warning that reckless driving can endanger the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users.
