Kampala Police Crack Down on Crime! Dozens Arrested Across the City

Kampala Metropolitan Police have stepped up their efforts to fight crime across the city, conducting a series of operations that have led to multiple arrests in different areas. The operations targeted criminal hot spots, with the aim of protecting residents and keeping the streets safe.

In Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, officers from Yesu Amala Police Station arrested 18-year-old Arinaitwe Moses during a routine patrol. He was found carrying a panga, which is believed to have been intended for use in criminal activities.

In another major operation carried out on 7th April 2026, police swept through Biwologoma, Good Shade, Clock Tower, and Arua Park. A total of 43 suspects were detained for allegedly engaging in activities that endangered public safety. These individuals are currently held at CPS Kampala and are expected to be arraigned in court today.

Patrol officers from CPS Kampala also intercepted a suspected motorcycle phone snatcher. The suspect was caught with several stolen smartphones and confessed to being part of a larger criminal network operating in the city.

In Najjera, Kira Municipality, a joint operation between the Police and the UPDF led to the arrest of three people involved in the illegal cultivation and supply of marijuana. Meanwhile, in Kamwokya, Kira Road Police Division detained 35 suspects thought to be active in known crime black spots.

One of the most high-profile arrests occurred in Kabalagala, where police apprehended Emma Muteso, a wanted suspect linked to cases of aggravated robbery and murder. Authorities continue to pursue Muteso’s accomplices as investigations unfold.

All the arrested individuals remain in custody, with further investigations and legal proceedings ongoing. Kampala Metropolitan Police have assured the public that they will continue to conduct targeted operations to deter criminals and maintain the safety of the city.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, emphasized that these operations are part of a continuous effort to protect citizens and ensure justice is served.
