LOP Ssenyonyi Asks IGG To Investigate The Alleged Shs100m Payout To NRM MPs

Must read

The leaders of opposition in Parliament Rt Hon Joel Ssenyonyi has tasked the inspector General of Government to take action and open up investigations into the circulating information regarding the payment of the Shs100 to ruling National Resistance Movement(NRM) legislators.

“We are taking some steps, and the first one is this joint resolution that is to be signed by all MPs who didn’t pick the Shs100m. Some have asked, what if those who picked the money also get to sign! Well, on our side we’ve got to play our part. Those who sign even though they picked, it shall eventually catch up with them. Our keen eye is continuing to dig up information on this matter”.posted Ssenyonyi.

Butambala County Legislator Muwanga Kivumbi in a meeting for Buganda region members said, the Opposition Caucus in Parliament has decided that all opposition legislators who did not receive the alleged UGX 100 million ‘bonanza’ must sign a resolution confirming their non-involvement and accountability to the public.

At least 31 opposition legislators have signed a resolution not to pick the said Shs100 million bailout gift to each NRM, independent and ‘friendly’ opposition members.
The taxpayers’ money that sources say was picked by several law makers between Monday night and Tuesday morning is the latest scandal to rock Parliament, which has widely been described by critics as a House of Deals.

However the deputy speaker of parliament Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa died receiving the said money and has no information about the same.

“lam a Member of Parliament, and I have not received a single coin, nor have I received a call from anyone who has my money. If you know you have it, please bring it”.He said.
