President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that he held a meeting with a special envoy from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to discuss key issues affecting the region, particularly the security situation in eastern Congo.

In a message shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Museveni said he received Mr. Floribert Anzuluni Isiloketshi, the Special Envoy of the DRC, at his Kisozi Farm. The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest between Uganda and the DRC, with special attention given to the ongoing security challenges in eastern parts of the neighboring country.

According to Museveni, peace and stability in the region remain critical for the well-being and prosperity of citizens in both countries. He emphasized that Uganda will continue working closely with the DRC and other regional partners to find lasting solutions to the security concerns affecting eastern Congo.

The discussions come at a time when eastern DRC continues to face insecurity caused by armed groups, a situation that has affected communities, trade, and regional development. Uganda and the DRC have in recent years strengthened cooperation on security matters in an effort to promote peace and protect citizens.

Museveni reiterated that regional cooperation remains essential in addressing common challenges and ensuring a stable environment that can support economic growth and development across the region. The meeting signals the continued commitment of both countries to dialogue and joint efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace in eastern Congo.
