Police in Kampala Metropolitan Area have arrested three men suspected of being part of a group involved in robbery incidents around Jomayi Estate in Mulawa, Kira. The arrests followed a night operation in the area after residents and security teams reported suspicious movements.According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, the incident happened on September 12, 2026, at about 10:30pm near the roundabout leading to Jomayi Estate.
Officers from Kiwologoma Police Station were on patrol when they responded to reports of suspicious activity in the area. Officers from Najjera Police Station also joined the operation.When the officers approached the suspects, the three men, who were travelling on the same motorcycle, reportedly tried to escape. However, the police officers managed to stop and arrest them before they could get away.A search of the suspects led to the recovery of several items believed to be connected to robbery incidents.
Police said they recovered two pangas, an iPhone, a handbag containing assorted ladies’ belongings, a small baton and a mobile phone, among other items.The suspects were identified as Damba Isima, 30, a resident of Lugoba in Nabweru, Nansana; Musisi John, 21, also from Lugoba, Nabweru, Nansana; and Katemba Vincent, 30. Police said Katemba was found riding motorcycle registration number UMA 369NH and had no known place of residence.During questioning, police said the suspects admitted possessing the pangas and operating in the area.
However, investigations are still ongoing to establish whether the suspects were directly involved in the reported robbery incidents and to identify other people who may be part of the alleged group.The three suspects were taken to Kira Division Police Station for further management as investigations continue. Police are also working to identify the owners of the property recovered from the suspects so that it can be returned to its rightful owners.Kampala Metropolitan Police has called on anyone who may have lost property around Jomayi Estate and the surrounding areas to report to police.
Such reports could help investigators establish where the recovered items came from and determine whether they are connected to previous robbery cases.Police also praised officers from Kiwologoma and Najjera Police Stations for their quick response and teamwork.
According to the police, the coordinated action helped prevent the suspects from escaping and led to the recovery of items suspected to have been stolen.The arrests come as security agencies continue to increase patrols in residential areas to protect members of the public from robbery and other criminal activities, especially during night hours. Investigations into the suspects and the recovered property are ongoing.
