A tragic road accident involving a train and a school bus has left one person dead and several students injured in Mukono District. The accident happened at about 6:45 a.m. on Friday at Namumira–Bukasa Village in Kyetume Parish, Nakisunga Sub-county along the Katosi Road.
According to police, the bus was carrying students from Mwebaze High School in Kakiri who were travelling to Jinja District for an educational trip. What was expected to be an exciting learning journey turned into a nightmare when the bus collided with a train under circumstances that are still being investigated.
