Panic, Fear Lock Police As M7 Rejects Directors Contract Renewal Amidst Serious Investigations

Must read

Directors in the Uganda Police Force are reportedly living in fear and uncertainty after receiving intelligence that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is also the appointing authority, has declined to renew their employment contracts, SpyReports has exclusively learnt.

According to inside security sources, the President has not only halted the renewal of the directors’ contracts but has also instituted investigations into several allegations, including corruption and abuse of office.
Reliable sources at Police Headquarters in Naguru revealed that more than 10 police directors are currently out of office after their contracts expired without renewal.

“Some directors are currently at home after submitting their contract renewal requests to the President through the Minister of Internal Affairs. They expected the President to renew them quickly so they could resume work,” said a senior police officer, adding that deputy directors are currently running the affected offices.

The source further disclosed that panic and sleepless nights among the directors intensified after reports emerged that the President had declined to renew their contracts.
“The President was briefed by intelligence officers about widespread corruption and abuse of office at Naguru,” the source said.

According to security sources, several departments were implicated in corruption scandals, including the Directorates of Human Resource Management, Logistics, Human Resource Development, ICT, the Office of the Under Secretary, Accounts, and Finance.
“The President, who is committed to fighting corruption, accepted recommendations to suspend the renewals and instead set up a probe team that will present a report to him,” another source revealed.
The source added that any directors found culpable in corruption-related cases could face arrest and prosecution.

On Thursday, the President reportedly sent two directors on forced leave over corruption allegations. These included Director of ICT, AIGP Felix Baryamusaki, and Police Under Secretary Aggrey Wunyi.
Sources further revealed that several other directors have less than six months remaining on their contracts, yet there are no clear indications from the President regarding possible renewals.

“Even the Inspector General of Police is uncertain about his future because his contract has less than a year remaining,” another insider claimed.
Among the directors reportedly awaiting the President’s decision are AIGP Jessy Kamunanwire, Erasmus Twaruhukwa, Moses Kaffero, Ubaldo Bamunoba, David Wasswa, Felix Baryamusaki, Hadijah Namutebi, and James Apora, among others.
Those whose contracts are also nearing expiration include Frank Mwesigwa, Christopher Damulira, Lawrence Nuwabiine, and Stephen Tanui.
Efforts to obtain a comment from police spokesperson Kitumwa Rusoke were unsuccessful, as his known phone numbers were switched off by press time.
