The Butambala Chief Magistrates’ Court has today adjourned the case involving the Deputy President for Buganda, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, and his co-accused. The matter, which was scheduled to proceed before His Worship Deogratias Ssejjemba, has now been pushed to June 25.
The adjournment was occasioned by the absence of the prosecution file, which remains at the International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kololo, Kampala. As a result, the court was unable to proceed with the hearing of the case, forcing another delay in the matter.
According to information presented before the court, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has not yet transferred the case file to the Butambala Chief Magistrates’ Court despite previous court directives ordering that the file be sent. This has raised concerns over continued delays in the administration of justice and the timely hearing of the case.
The defense team and supporters of Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi expressed disappointment over the latest postponement, arguing that the failure to comply with court orders continues to affect the progress of the case. They maintain that all parties should respect judicial directives to ensure fairness and efficiency in the legal process.
His Worship Deogratias Ssejjemba subsequently adjourned the matter to June 25, when the court expects the necessary file to be available for further proceedings. Attention will now turn to whether the Office of the DPP complies with the court’s directives before the next hearing date.
The case remains closely watched by political leaders, legal observers, and supporters of Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, who are hoping for a resolution of the procedural challenges that have repeatedly delayed the proceedings.
