Must read

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has announced a nationwide recruitment exercise that will take place from 20th July to 1st August 2026 across all districts of the country, offering eligible Ugandans an opportunity to join the national military force.

The announcement was made by the Acting Director of Defence Public Information, Brigadier General Chris O. Magezi, who urged interested applicants to stay informed through official UPDF communication channels as preparations for the exercise get underway.

According to the UPDF, the recruitment process will be conducted simultaneously across the country to ensure equal opportunities for qualified candidates from all regions. The exercise is expected to attract thousands of young Ugandans seeking to serve their country while building careers within the military.

Officials have revealed that the names of shortlisted candidates will be published on the official UPDF website ahead of the recruitment exercise. Applicants are therefore encouraged to regularly check the platform and follow official UPDF announcements for important updates regarding eligibility requirements, recruitment centers, and application procedures.

The recruitment drive forms part of the UPDF’s efforts to strengthen its ranks and maintain a capable force that can effectively fulfill its constitutional mandate of protecting Uganda’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Prospective candidates have been advised to be cautious of fraudsters who may attempt to exploit the recruitment process by demanding money or making false promises. The UPDF has consistently emphasized that its recruitment exercises are conducted transparently and through official channels only.

As the recruitment dates draw closer, interested applicants are encouraged to prepare the necessary documents, verify information through official sources, and follow all guidelines that will be issued by the UPDF. The upcoming exercise presents an important opportunity for qualified Ugandans who aspire to serve their nation through a career in the armed forces.
