Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has clarified the latest changes in the leadership of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), confirming that Hon. Daudi Kabanda will continue to serve within the organisation despite stepping down as General Secretary. This update comes after the appointment of Hon. Fadil Twalla as the new General Secretary of the movement.
In his statement, Gen Muhoozi explained that although Kabanda is no longer holding the position of General Secretary, he has been retained as a member of the Central Committee. This decision shows that Kabanda will still play an important role in guiding the organisation’s direction and contributing to its decision-making process.
Hon. Daudi Kabanda has served as General Secretary for three years. During his tenure, he was credited with helping to build strong foundations for the office and supporting the growth of PLU. Gen Muhoozi thanked him for his “excellent service” and praised the standard he set in leadership.
At the same time, Hon. Fadil Twalla has officially taken over the role of General Secretary. His appointment is part of ongoing changes within PLU aimed at strengthening leadership and improving coordination across the movement. Gen Muhoozi expressed confidence that Twalla will work closely with him to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
The retention of Kabanda in the Central Committee suggests a smooth and structured transition within PLU, rather than a complete exit from leadership. It also reflects an effort to maintain experience within the organisation while introducing new leadership at the secretariat level.
