Police have launched investigations into a violent robbery incident in which a man was attacked by a group of panga-wielding assailants in Nabbingo, Wakiso District.
According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of June 15, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m. in Kigwanya Zone, Nabbingo Parish, Kyengera Town Council. The case came to public attention after a video allegedly showing the attack began circulating widely on social media.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was returning home from work together with his girlfriend and was heading to their residence in Kigwanya Zone when they were ambushed by a group of about seven men armed with pangas.
The attackers reportedly surrounded the victim before violently assaulting him and robbing him of his belongings. After carrying out the attack, the suspects fled the scene before they could be apprehended.
Police at Nsangi have since taken up the matter and commenced investigations aimed at identifying and tracking down those responsible.
Authorities say a dedicated task team has been deployed and is working to gather evidence, review available footage, and establish the identities of the suspects involved in the robbery.
The incident has sparked concern among residents of the area, with many calling for increased security patrols to curb violent crime, especially during the night.
