Uganda Communications Commission and Busoga Kingdom Sign 5-Year Deal to Empower Communities

Must read

This morning, a major step was taken toward improving digital development in Uganda when the Uganda Communications Commission and the Busoga Kingdom signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement is aimed at strengthening cooperation in ICT development, digital literacy, innovation, and infrastructure across the Busoga sub-region.

The partnership is expected to bring real change to communities by expanding access to technology. One of the key plans is to establish ICT hubs in different areas of Busoga. These hubs will give young people and community members access to computers, internet services, and digital training. This is expected to help more people gain skills needed in today’s digital world.

In addition to ICT hubs, the agreement also includes setting up computer laboratories and community resource centres. These facilities will support students, job seekers, and small business owners who want to use technology to improve their lives. By increasing access to digital tools, the partnership aims to reduce the digital gap between urban and rural areas.

Another important part of the MoU is the digitization of cultural heritage. Busoga Kingdom will work with UCC to preserve and document cultural traditions, history, and indigenous knowledge using digital platforms. This will not only protect cultural identity but also promote tourism by making Busoga’s heritage more accessible to the world.

The collaboration is also expected to encourage innovation among young people. With better access to technology and training, many youths in Busoga will be able to create new ideas, start businesses, and participate in the digital economy. This is seen as a big step toward reducing unemployment and improving livelihoods.

Overall, the 5-year partnership between Uganda Communications Commission and Busoga Kingdom reflects a shared vision of transformation. It focuses on empowering communities, promoting education, and using technology as a tool for development. Leaders from both sides believe that this initiative will help drive long-term social and economic growth in the region.
