Police Speaks Out On Exodus SACCO Allegations, Explains Staff Changes

Must read

The Uganda Police Force has issued a detailed statement clarifying recent reports concerning Exodus SACCO, following media claims that senior officers had been dismissed over alleged corruption in the SACCO’s loan processing system.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Police dismissed the allegations and explained that no staff members were dismissed as a result of corruption investigations or disciplinary action. According to the force, the reports circulating in some sections of the media do not accurately reflect the circumstances surrounding recent changes at the SACCO.

The Police explained that the staff changes were part of a routine administrative process. Exodus SACCO employees serve on renewable two-year contracts, and several contracts had naturally come to an end. As part of efforts to improve efficiency and strengthen service delivery, management opted to re-advertise positions and conduct a fresh recruitment exercise.

According to the statement, an independent human resource firm was contracted through a competitive process to oversee the recruitment exercise. Following the assessment, only applicants who met the required qualifications and standards were retained, while others were not re-engaged.

The Uganda Police Force also addressed allegations regarding loan processing, stressing that Exodus SACCO operates under clear and transparent procedures. Management strongly denied claims that members are required to pay bribes to access loans, maintaining that all loan applications are handled according to established guidelines and regulations.

Police further reassured SACCO members that their savings remain secure and that the institution continues to operate normally. The force urged media organizations to verify information before publication and emphasized the importance of responsible journalism. It also called for the correction of inaccurate reports while reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and proper management of all institutions under its supervision, including Exodus SACCO.
