Police, together with transport authorities, have intensified road safety enforcement along the Kampala–Masaka Highway under “Operation Barabara Salaama,” targeting vehicles considered to be at high risk of causing road accidents.
The operation involves spot checks and inspections of buses, taxis, heavy trucks and other public service vehicles to ensure motorists comply with road safety regulations.
The exercise is being led by the Commissioner for Transport Regulation and Safety, Winstone Katushabe, alongside the Deputy Director of Traffic and Road Safety, ACP Norman Musinga.
During the field operation, enforcement teams are checking vehicles and drivers to ensure they meet all required safety standards, including proper documentation, vehicle fitness and compliance with traffic laws.
Authorities said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to reduce road crashes and improve safety for passengers and other road users across the country.
Motorists and transport operators have been urged to cooperate with enforcement teams and follow all road safety requirements. Drivers have also been reminded to avoid reckless driving, speeding and other behaviours that endanger lives on the road.
The operation along the Kampala–Masaka Highway highlights the continued commitment by police and transport officials to strengthen road discipline and protect Ugandans using the country’s roads.
