Police in Nsangi have arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery and rape incident in which two women were allegedly sexually assaulted after armed men broke into a saloon where they were sleeping.
The incident happened on August 14, 2026, at Bujjasi Cell, Maya Ward, Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District, at around 4:00am.
According to police, three men reportedly broke into the saloon and robbed the occupants of mobile phones and cash before allegedly sexually assaulting two of the victims multiple times.
Following the incident, detectives launched investigations and obtained leads that helped them identify and arrest three suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
On August 17, police conducted an identification parade in accordance with the law. During the exercise, two of the victims identified one of the suspects as Kato Enock.
The three suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. Detectives are carrying out further inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether other people were involved.
Police said the suspects will be taken to court once investigations are completed and in accordance with the law.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, commended the victims for cooperating with investigators.
He also urged members of the public to report criminal incidents promptly and provide information that could help police investigate and prevent similar crimes.
