Money estimated to be over Shs 10bn will be blown out as security Forces will hold the 18th Edition of inter-force games and shooting Championship that will take place in Gulu, Northern Uganda.
The launch of the Inter-force games was held today at Uganda Media Center and was attended by all security chiefs from UPDF, Police,Prisons and UWA.
According to Col Henry Obbo, the Deputy Spokesperson for UPDF, say UPDF will hold the games that will start from 22 August to 05 September under the theme “building Synergy through sports,”. He says funds for the function will be shared among the security forces. “We shall sit and make the budget for the function and each security force will contribute,” he says. He added that they expect each Security force to send 250 participants meaning they will have more than 1000 people. He added that officers from different security forces will compete in games like football,Netball, volleyball,Shooting range,taekwondo among others. He further says the opening Ceremony will be presided over by the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs Hon Kiryowa Kiwanuka and will be held at St College Liyibi play ground.
He says the Inter-force games aim at Enhance fitness and discipline to improve operational readiness, strengthening inter agency cooperation and camaraderie among security bodies, promote civil military relations to build community confidence and solidarity,promote health while reducing stress among security personnel among others. He called upon the general public to come and be part of the competitions. He says the 17 th Edition was held in 2023 and was hosted by Uganda Police.
