A fresh exchange has emerged between NRM supporters after MP Daudi Kabanda questioned Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa over his message congratulating Bishop Patience and the Kaguta family on what he described as a “milestone.”
Tayebwa, in a post shared on Monday, August 24, 2026, congratulated Bishop Patience and the entire Kaguta family, following her consecration as a bishop. “Congratulations Bishop Patience and the entire Kaguta family on this milestone,” Tayebwa wrote, accompanied by a prayer emoji.
However, Kabanda appeared unconvinced by the description and responded with a short but pointed question: “Which milestone?” His comment quickly attracted attention online, with several social media users joining the discussion.
Some users questioned why Kabanda would appear to dismiss the achievement, especially given that Bishop Patience had reportedly reached the milestone after years of ministry. One user reminded Kabanda of his previous remarks about supporting President Yoweri Museveni and his family, asking how he could support Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba while appearing unwilling to recognise his sister’s achievement.
Another user defended Tayebwa’s message, arguing that Bishop Patience’s consecration was a significant achievement that deserved recognition. The user pointed out that she had reportedly spent 20 years in ministry before becoming a bishop and that members of the Kaguta family had publicly marked the occasion.
The exchange has since triggered mixed reactions among social media users, with some criticising Kabanda’s response while others appeared to agree with his decision to question Tayebwa’s wording.
Kabanda’s two-word response may have been brief, but it has generated considerable discussion, turning what began as a congratulatory message into a political and social media debate.
The disagreement also comes amid continued public interest in the political relationships and differences among figures within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). While Tayebwa chose to celebrate Bishop Patience’s achievement, Kabanda’s response has left many wondering what exactly he meant by asking, “Which milestone?”
For now, neither Tayebwa nor Kabanda has publicly provided a detailed explanation of the exchange, leaving social media users to interpret the meaning behind the brief but pointed response.
