Buganda Rallies for Museveni!! Ministers Storm Gomba in Massive Show of Support

Must read

Hundreds of people gathered in Gomba District for a massive rally organized under the theme “Buganda for Museveni”, aimed at mobilizing support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) ahead of the 2026 general elections. The event took place at Kifampa Church of Uganda Primary School in Kifampa Sub-county, located in Gomba West Constituency. It was organized by the area’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Robina Gureme Rwakoojo, who said these rallies are part of a larger campaign by NRM MPs to strengthen the party’s base across Buganda.

The rally attracted a large crowd of local residents, leaders, and dignitaries, including several ministers who used the opportunity to address the pressing issues facing Gomba. Hon. Judith Nabakooba, the Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, was the chief guest. She urged the people of Gomba to rally behind President Museveni and elect NRM flag bearers, saying this would bring more development and services to their communities.

Minister Nabakooba reminded residents that NRM leaders have better access to the President and can directly present community concerns. She said the 2021 elections had seen the rise of opposition MPs who, according to her, have failed to bring real change. “We have seen what the opposition can offer. Let’s vote wisely this time,” she said.

Speaking about land issues—one of Gomba’s biggest problems—Nabakooba promised to work hand-in-hand with MP Rwakoojo to resolve land disputes, especially in places like Bukundugulu. She said many residents lost land due to poor documentation and illegal land grabbing during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. Some people forged land titles, but she reassured the public that these fake titles would be cancelled. “We are working with the Chief Justice and courts to make sure stolen land is returned,” she said.

She also urged local leaders to carefully review lease agreements, warning that many leases had expired and should not be automatically renewed without considering the needs of the local people who now occupy that land.

MP Rwakoojo told the crowd that the rally wasn’t just for politics—it was also meant to find solutions to the people’s problems. She invited ministers from different sectors to hear directly from the people. Key concerns included lack of electricity in Kifampa, poor road conditions, water shortages, and unfinished or absent health centers. “We are tired of promises. This time, we brought the ministers to the ground to see for themselves,” she said, adding that this approach would boost support for NRM in 2026.

Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, the Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, promised that power distribution would begin soon in rural parts of Gomba, especially in underserved areas like Kifampa Sub-county where only the trading center has electricity. She acknowledged the community’s struggles and assured them that their cries had been heard.

On the economic side, Hon. Haruna Kasolo, the Minister of State for Microfinance, revealed that Gomba had already received two rounds of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds. He encouraged locals to make use of the program to improve their lives. He also promised an additional Shs 20 million for every SACCO, and announced plans to introduce boda boda loans to help idle youth start working. “This will be a game changer for our young people,” he said.

The rally was also attended by several MPs from the Buganda region including Hon. Hanifa Kawooya, Hon. Cissy Namujju, Hon. Juliet Kinyamatama, Hon. Sylvia Nayebare, Hon. Kibedi Nsegumire, Hon. David Kabanda, and Hon. Hope Grania Nakazibwe. Their presence added weight to the event and sent a strong message that NRM is ready to reclaim Buganda’s support.

As the crowd cheered on, the message was clear—Buganda for Museveni is not just a slogan but a renewed movement aiming to unite the region behind the NRM and bring development to every corner of Gomba. With promises made and plans laid out, all eyes are now on 2026.
