UCC OFFERS BROADCAST RIG VAN FOR FREE TO FILMMAKERS

Must read

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has opened up an opportunity for filmmakers to take their work closer to audiences by making its Broadcast Rig Van available at no cost. The initiative is aimed at helping creative works reach communities beyond conventional platforms.

UCC says creative works can only create meaningful value when they are given an opportunity to reach and connect with an audience.Through the initiative, filmmakers will be able to use the Broadcast Rig Van to showcase their films to communities, creating an opportunity for more people to watch and appreciate Ugandan stories.

However, filmmakers interested in using the facility must meet certain requirements before their films can be considered. The films must first be classified by the Uganda Media Council and should have the relevant permissions required for public screening.

Applicants are also expected to provide a film poster and trailer as part of the submission requirements. Interested filmmakers have been encouraged to submit their requests to the Office of the UCC Executive Director.

The initiative provides an important platform for filmmakers whose productions may not always get enough exposure through cinemas, television and other traditional channels. By bringing films directly to communities, creators can potentially reach new audiences and give people an opportunity to experience locally produced stories.

UCC says supporting creators is not only about producing content but also about helping that content reach audiences. The initiative is therefore expected to contribute to the promotion of Ugandan creativity while encouraging communities to appreciate locally produced films and the stories they tell.

For filmmakers, the availability of the Broadcast Rig Van presents an opportunity to take their productions beyond screens and conventional distribution channels and directly into communities where new audiences can discover and connect with their work.
