“Politicians Who Use Violence in Elections Are Politically Bankrupt” Says Hon. Fox Odoi

Must read

Hon. Fox Odoi, the NRM Member of Parliament for West Budama North East, has stated that politicians who use violence during elections are politically bankrupt and lack real political ideas. He made these remarks at the NRM offices in Nakasero after being officially nominated as the party’s flag bearer for West Budama North East ahead of the 2026 elections. Hon. Odoi, who is also the former legal advisor to President Museveni, emphasized that he does not and will never support the use of violence in politics.

He explained that he has never needed to resort to violence during elections because he believes the power of voting lies in the hands of the people. According to him, there is no reason to use violence to gain votes, and doing so is political suicide. Hon. Odoi warned that politicians who engage in violence harm their own political futures.

Looking forward to his next term, Hon. Odoi said he is ready to focus on ending poverty in West Budama North East. He described poverty as the main issue affecting the area, highlighting low income especially among youth, poor health services, poor education, lack of clean water, limited electricity access, and lack of markets for agricultural products as key challenges. He said these are the three forms of poverty he wants to address.

Hon. Odoi explained that his motivation to continue representing his people is to solve these problems. Once he achieves this goal, he intends to retire from politics. He has been a Member of Parliament since 2021, after leaving his role at State House where he was honored for his good service. During his time at State House, he raised several important issues that caught the attention of the President and were acted upon.
