Must read

Police have arrested Wasswa Peter, the driver of a Sino truck that was involved in a fatal road crash at Nkoowe along the Kampala–Hoima Road in Wakiso District.

The crash occurred on September 8, 2026, when the truck reportedly lost control and rammed into a commuter taxi. The impact resulted in the deaths of two people, while nine others sustained injuries.

Following the incident, police launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash and subsequently arrested Wasswa Peter, who was driving the Sino truck at the time of the accident.

The suspect is currently being held in police custody as investigations continue. Police said he is expected to appear in court to face charges arising from the crash.

The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and the need for motorists to exercise greater care, especially on busy roads where loss of vehicle control can have serious consequences.

Police have urged all motorists to observe speed limits and remain in proper control of their vehicles at all times. Drivers have also been reminded to exercise extra caution and consider the safety of other road users.

The authorities continue to encourage motorists to avoid reckless driving and other behaviours that could put passengers, pedestrians and fellow drivers at risk.

Police said motorists have a responsibility to protect lives by driving carefully and following traffic regulations. The public is also encouraged to report dangerous driving and other road safety concerns to the relevant authorities.
