Jotham Taremwa, a well-known public figure and former spokesperson of Uganda’s Electoral Commission, has officially entered the race to represent Nyabushozi Constituency in Kiruhura District. He has been nominated to contest for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag in the coming elections.
Taremwa brings a fresh voice and a wealth of experience from his time in national service. While addressing supporters, he shared his vision and commitment to the people of Nyabushozi. He said he is not just joining politics for the sake of it he wants to be a unifier, a lobbyist, and a connector for the community. These three pillars, he believes, are the key to unlocking real development and strengthening unity in the area.
According to Taremwa, Nyabushozi needs a leader who can bridge gaps between people and bring them together, regardless of their backgrounds. He says his goal is to unite communities, work with both youth and elders, and make sure everyone has a voice. “Unity brings strength,” he said, “and with strength, we can build something better for all.”
As a lobbyist, Taremwa promises to be a strong voice for the constituency, especially at the national level. He says he will push for more resources, better infrastructure, and improved social services like schools, hospitals, and clean water. “I want to bring government closer to the people,” he said. “Our people need someone who speaks for them and follows through.”
He also emphasized his role as a connector someone who links local communities with opportunities and government programs. Taremwa believes that many government services never reach the people who need them most, and he plans to change that. He wants to monitor these programs closely and ensure that they are implemented correctly and benefit the ordinary citizens.
Nyabushozi Constituency is currently represented by Wilson Twinomugisha Kajwengye, who is also a member of the NRM. With Taremwa joining the race, the competition within the ruling party is likely to heat up, as voters consider both past performance and future promises.
As the political season picks up, all eyes will be on Nyabushozi to see how things unfold. Will the people welcome Taremwa’s message of unity, development, and accountability? Time will tell. But for now, his entry into the race has certainly stirred interest and brought new energy to the conversation.
