At least two people have died and four others are in critical condition following a nasty road accident along the Kagadi-Hoima road on Friday.
The accident occurred in Kiryane Cell, Kagadi Town Council, when a vehicle with registration number UAL 627F, carrying six passengers, lost control and plunged into a trench. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Ibanda towards Hoima.
Two people died in the crash. The deceased have been identified as Kategaya Geoffrey and the driver, whose identity had not yet been established by the time of reporting.
The four survivors sustained serious injuries and were rushed to St. Ambrose Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Their condition has been described as critical.
Police and residents who responded to the scene reportedly attributed the accident to over-speeding, although investigations are expected to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident has once again raised concern about road safety along the Kagadi-Hoima road, with motorists urged to avoid excessive speed and exercise greater caution, especially when carrying passengers.
