Four young men aged between 18 and 20 have been remanded to Luzira Prison after appearing in court over three separate capital cases, including the alleged aggravated robbery and murder of SC Villa football captain David Owori.
The suspects are facing serious allegations linked to violent robberies, with one of the cases involving the death of Owori. The charges have drawn attention because of the young age of the accused and the seriousness of the offences they are alleged to have committed.
According to the information presented, the suspects are also accused of robbing a Congolese doctor in a separate incident. The doctor was reportedly attacked and robbed using a paver, adding to the growing list of allegations against the group.
The four suspects were remanded to Luzira Prison as investigations and court proceedings continue. At this stage, the allegations remain claims before court, and the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The murder of Owori has particularly attracted public concern because of his role as captain of SC Villa, one of Uganda’s historic football clubs. His death has left football fans and the wider sporting community shocked, while the ongoing court case is expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The latest court action means the young suspects will remain in custody as the prosecution prepares to proceed with the cases. Given the nature of the charges, the matters are expected to attract close attention as they move through the justice system.
For the families of the victims and the football community, the court proceedings could provide important answers about what happened and who was responsible. However, the final determination of guilt or innocence will rest with the courts.:::
