Just In!! Police Bust Dangerous Robbery Gang Behind Wakiso Attacks

Police in Kampala Metropolitan North have successfully dismantled a violent gang that has been robbing and terrorizing residents in Wakiso District and surrounding areas.

The breakthrough came after a terrifying robbery that took place on May 14, 2025, in Ssumbwe village, Wakiso district. On that day, four armed robbers, carrying guns and pangas (machetes), stormed a home and stole cash, mobile phones, and a flat-screen TV, leaving the victims shaken.

Investigators launched a detailed operation, using forensic analysis and a police canine unit. Their big break came when they discovered a fingerprint at the scene that matched Tugume Owen, a suspect who had previously been arrested for aggravated robbery back in 2020.

Following a carefully planned search, police arrested Tugume Owen on July 8, 2025, from Biira Mayanja, Nateete. A search of his home revealed pangas and other tools believed to be used in house break-ins.

During interrogation, Tugume confessed to the robbery and named his three accomplices:

Ssekimpi Patrick, also known as Patu

Katwesigye Charles, also known as Rasta

Mawejje Ronald, also known as Ssalongo

Police acted fast, arresting all three suspects from different locations between July 9 and 10, 2025. Tugume is currently being held at Wakiso Police Station, while the other three suspects are detained at Nateete Police Station.

The operation is still ongoing as police continue to hunt for any remaining gang members and gather more evidence. Authorities have praised the work of the forensic team and canine unit for helping to
