Must read

A team from the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, led by the Acting Director of Traffic, ACP Musinga Norman, held a community sensitization meeting yesterday at Enro Hotel in Mityana. The meeting brought together taxi drivers, bodaboda riders, bus operators, market vendors, school proprietors, and other stakeholders to discuss road safety and how to reduce traffic accidents in the Wamala region.

The purpose of the meeting was to raise awareness about road safety issues and give stakeholders a chance to share their concerns. Before engaging the community, the team first met with regional staff and all traffic officers in the area to ensure coordinated efforts across the region.

During the meeting, ACP Musinga emphasized the importance of professionalism among traffic officers. He urged them to increase their presence, especially in known black spot areas, to prevent accidents and save lives.

According to the 2024 traffic statistics, the Wamala region recorded 258 fatal crashes, highlighting the urgent need for continued awareness and strict enforcement of traffic rules. The community sensitization meeting is seen as a critical step toward reducing these accidents and ensuring safer roads for everyone.
